Sharjah Coop wins the 18th Sharjah Voluntary Work Award

Sharjah Coop has won the 18th Sharjah Volunteer Work Award, where the honoring ceremony was held under the generous patronage of His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Muhammad bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of the Emirate of Sharjah.

The cooperative won the first place in the field of volunteer work for its project “Shopping in Convenience and Safety”, which attracted “239” volunteers, and a total of “13517” volunteering hours.

His Excellency Majid Al Junaid, CEO of Sharjah Coop, expressed his gratitude and appreciation to His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, may God protect him and his patrons, and His Highness Sheikh Sultan bin Muhammad bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, for their keenness on the involvement and participation of all institutions, sectors and individuals in volunteer work since it is considered to be a human value rooted in the Emirati society, stressing that the Sharjah Award for Voluntary Work contributed to creating a state of competition and action, which contributed to the dissemination of its culture in a large way, translating the visions and directions of the wise leadership.

Mr. Hilal Al Muharram, Director of the Human Resources Department of the cooperative, stressed the keenness of Sharjah coop to continuously participate in humanitarian volunteer work to consolidate its importance among workers and employees in various departments and branches, as well as shoppers of different nationalities and age groups.

He pointed at the pioneering role of the Sharjah Coop in initiating and introducing community initiatives that serve the community in its various categories, including the “Shopping in Convenience and Safety” initiative, which was implemented in collaboration with the Department of Services and Social Affairs in Sharjah with the aim of raising awareness among shoppers of the need to adhere to all prevention and safety guidelines during their shopping to protect them from the danger of the new Corona virus pandemic, which was applied at all Sharjah Coop branches that are spread throughout the whole city of Sharjah, indicating the participation of 72 volunteers in the initiative with 5 volunteer hours daily, increasing and decreasing as needed during weekdays, and lasted for 60 days.

Mr. Hilal Al Muharram valued the role played by the volunteers in the initiative and those who took the lead to make it happen. He expressed his pride in the honor that can be seen as a culmination of Sharjah Coop’s efforts in encouraging the voluntary work among society members and working to build community partnerships between institutions of all kinds. He added that receiving the award enhances the position of Sharjah Coop and its vital role, pointing to the continuation of work to spread the culture of volunteer work by introducing initiatives and organizing volunteer events and activities, to serve development issues and social and economic issues in general.
